Dr Rajdeep Roy represents India in BIMSTEC Round Table Conference 2022 in Sri Lanka
April 1: BJP MP from Silchar, Dr Rajdeep Roy represented India in BIMSTEC Round Table Conference 2022 in Sri Lanka on 1 April, 2022. Participating in the conference, Dr Rajdeep Roy spoke on the “Cultural and Civilisational Linkages” between Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) countries.
Taking to his twitter handle, MP Dr Roy wrote, “Spoke on “Cultural and Civilisational Linkages” between BIMSTEC Countries and also enriched myself from the deliberations of other delegates and dignitaries ! Wonderful experience to speak as a representative of the Country in an assembly of scholars.”

Infact, the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) is a regional organisation comprising seven Member States: five deriving from South Asia, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and two from Southeast Asia, including Myanmar and Thailand.
Earlier, on 30 March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has participated in the 5th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit through virtual mode. The Summit was hosted by the Government of Sri Lanka, which was the chair nation of BIMSTEC. At the conclusion of the Summit, Thailand took over as chair nation of BIMSTEC. The year 2022 marks the25th year of the establishment of BIMSTEC.
