District Youth Parliament 2019 held in Assam University
January 26: The District Youth Parliament 2019, as a part of National Youth Parliament Festival was held on Friday at Bipin Chandra Paul Auditorium of Assam University, Silchar. A total of 184 youth from the age group of 18 to 25 years actively participated in this Youth Parliament. The participants included NSS volunteers from different colleges of Barak Valley and also activists of NYKS.
Participants from the three districts of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi participated in the District Youth Parliament 2019 in the Assam University, Silchar venue; whereas, those belonging to Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao took part at Maibong Degree College.
From the District Youth Parliament, students will be selected on merit basis who will participate in the State Level Youth Parliament, 2019.
The topics for the District Youth Parliament were:
- India sets global narratives on terrorism.
- India sets global narratives on economic offenders.
- India sets global narratives on climate change.
- Khelo India: A gateway for budding sports persons.
- Best time for Indian sportsperson to make a mark
The inaugural session was presided over by Professor Gopalji Mishra. In this session, Registrar of the University Dr Sanjib Bhattacharjee, Professor Shivan G, Professor M. Gangabushan, Professor Albin Joshep and Dr Shyam Mamud Barbhuiya, NSS Programme Officer of Jagannath Singh College, Udharbond delivered speech. Programme Officers present from various colleges of the valley praised the active role of Dr. M. Gangabushan, NSS Coordinator of Assam university, Silchar in organising the event.
