Directives on political advertisements in print media issued by ECI
April 7: In a notification issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), it was directed that no political party or candidate or any other organization or person shall publish any advertisement in the print media on poll day or one day prior to poll day in all the phases, unless such matters of political advertisements are pre-certified by the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) at the State/District level.
In a press release issued from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, it was stated that the restricted days of advertisement are April 10th and 11th, 2019 for Phase-I; April 17th and 18th, 2019 for Phase-II; April 22nd and 23rd, 2019 for Phase-III respectively.
Assam would go for a three-phase Lok Sabha election. The three-phase voting for 14 seats in Assam will take place on April 11, 18 and 23, 2019. The counting of votes will be on 23 May, 2019.
