DC spearheads field inspection across Silchar and adjoining areas to facilitate swift restoration

way2barak, April 13 : –In a concerted effort to expedite relief and restoration work following the sudden cyclonic storm that affected several parts of Cachar on Sunday, the District Administration of Cachar undertook an extensive field inspection across Silchar town and its adjoining areas on Monday. The inspection was led by the District Commissioner, Aayush Garg, IAS, who visited affected locations to assess the situation on the ground.
He was accompanied by the Additional District Commissioner, Cachar-cum-In-Charge of the District Disaster Management Authority, Sauvik Bhuyan, along with the Circle Officer of Silchar Sadar Revenue Circle, the District Project Officer of DDMA, and the Field Officer of Disaster Management.
Following the storm, the District Administration acted swiftly to respond on the ground, with teams and resources deployed across the affected areas to restore normalcy at the earliest. Clearing of roads and restoration of traffic movement have been taken up on priority. Circle Officers are stationed at different locations, closely monitoring the situation and guiding restoration work. Teams from SDRF and CQRT have been pressed into service to expedite restoration works. APDCL is making continuous efforts to normalise electricity supply in the affected localities.
During the visit, the team closely reviewed the progress of ongoing restoration works. Particular attention was given to road clearance operations, assessment of damage to residential properties, and the status of repair work being carried out by the concerned agencies. The inspection aimed at ensuring public convenience.
The team also undertook a comprehensive evaluation of the overall damage caused across the affected areas. Meanwhile, tarpaulins were also distributed by the Circle Officer, Katigorah Revenue Circle and Field Officer to families whose houses were damaged due to the cyclonic storm under Katigorah Revenue Circle.
