DC Cachar steps in to clear hurdles in movement of people from Barak to Jiribam in Manipur

May 26: Following reports of people from Barak Valley in Assam finding difficulty in entering Manipur for pursuing trade & commerce activities, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Keerthi Jalli took up the matter with her Jiribam district counterpart in Manipur for removing the barriers. DC Jalli on last Tuesday wrote a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam district wherein she requested to allow the movement of the people of Assam from Jirighat area to enter Jiribam District, Manipur during Lockdown period as many of them pursue commerce activities at Jiribam as this lock down has already put a strain on their savings.

While expressing her concern for resumption of commercial activities, she made reference to the instruction issued from Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India vide a letter dated 17 May, 2020. She expressed hope that her counterpart in Jiribam would cooperate in the same manner as he had done in the past.
