DC Cachar inspects site for proposed Mini Secretariat
February 5: It was a long standing demand of the people of Barak valley for establishing a Mini Secretariat over here. Finally, the dream of the people of this valley is going to be realised soon as land for setting up of the Mini Secretariat at Srikona (in Cachar district) has been earmarked. The work of providing fencing of 15 bigha land at Srikona is over. The foundation stone for the Mini Secretariat will be laid down by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the month of February in all probability.

It is in this regard that Cachar District administration is all geared up to complete all sorts of official formalities for this purpose. On Tuesday, Laya Madduri, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar along with ADC Rajiv Roy and other officials went to Srikona for the purpose of inspection of the proposed site of the Mini Secretariat.

It was learnt that DC Madduri took stock of the situation and also gave necessary instruction to the concerned departmental officers so that the foundation stone laying ceremony and subsequent construction work of the Mini Secretariat can be carried on smoothly.
Further, Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri also inspected on Tuesday, the functioning of the offices of SDO Civil Katigorah and Circle Office Katigorah. At Katigorah, DC Madduri attended a Public Meeting represented by leading citizens, NGO’s, Media Personnel etc. and heard their views and grievances. She assured that positive measures would be taken to solve the problems.
She also inspected the functioning of the Katigorah Block Development Office. The issue of erosion of river bank at Haritikar, Rajatilla in Katigorah constituency is a long standing problem. DC Madduri went in person to the river bank at Haritikar and took stock of the situation. She discussed the matter with the officers of the concerned departments and gave necessary instructions.
