CUET will reduce instances of scoring 98% in HS & not getting admission in UG: UGC Chairman
March 29: University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Jagadesh Kumar said on Tuesday that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will neither make the board exams irrelevant nor give a push to “coaching culture”. He said that the CUET will reduce the focus on scoring 100% marks. CUET will provide a level-playing field to students from all boards. Instances of students scoring 98% and not getting a college will be reduced, added the UGC Chairman.
The exam will be completely based on class 12 syllabus. The application process for the CUET for undergraduate courses in central universities will commence from April 2. According to NTA, the CUET will provide a single-window opportunity to students seeking admission in any central university across the country. The exam will be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) Mode.
