24 hours time needed to detect new strain of coronavirus
Dec. 26: In order to detect the presence of the new strain of coronavirus genome sequencing tests are bring done. Chief of India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) informed that 24 hours time is needed to trace the mutant strain of the new coronavirus.
Infact, six labs across India are set to conduct the genome sequencing tests to find out the presence of the new mutant strain of the coronavirus. The samples of passengers who tested COVID positive after arriving from the UK are being sent to these labs.
Addressing fears about the new virus variant that has stoked widespread fears over greater transmissibility, Dr Shekhar Mande of ICSI also said that COVID-19 vaccines are being tested and developed should be effective against it.
At a time when the new coronavirus strain has caused panic in the UK and other parts of the world, including India, India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research chief Dr Shekhar Mande’s statement comes as a solace to many.
