Assam Hockey Association Finalises Inter-District Calendar at AGM

way2barak, June 17: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Assam Hockey Association was held on Sunday at the Association’s office in the Sports Complex adjacent to Nurul Amin Stadium in Nagaon. The meeting, chaired by president Tapan Kumar Das, discussed in detail the schedule and arrangements for various hockey competitions to be organised across the state during the upcoming season.

One of the key decisions taken at the meeting was to award Hailakandi the hosting rights for the Senior Women’s Inter-District Championship, which is scheduled to be held in the second week of October. The Karimganj Hockey Association has been entrusted with organising the Under-14 Boys’ Inter-District Championship. The date of the event yet to be finalized.

The association also finalised the calendar for several other tournaments. The Sub-Junior Women’s Inter-District Championship will be held in Nagaon during the first week of July, while Kaliabor will host the Junior Men’s Inter-District Championship in the second week of July. Naharkatia has been selected to host the Junior Women’s tournament later in the season.

In October, Tinsukia will organise the Sub-Junior Boys’ Inter-District Championship during the third week, while Charaideo will host the Senior Men’s Inter-District Championship.

The AGM further announced that each district hosting an inter-district tournament would receive financial assistance of ₹1 lakh from the state association to support the organisation of the events.

Representatives from the Barak Valley who attended the AGM included Tahera Begum Laskar from Silchar, Ranjita Singh and Vidyaban Singh from Hailakandi, Emad Uddin (Secretary) and Salim Ahmed from Karimganj Hockey Association.

The meeting also featured detailed discussions on streamlining the player portal registration process of the hockey players to ensure their smoother participation and administration in future competitions.
