COVID-19 vaccination camp conducted for media persons and their families in Karimganj

May 20: A COVID-19 vaccination camp for media persons and their families was inaugurated by Karimganj MP, Kripanath Mallah here on Thursday. Inaugurating the vaccination camp organised by the district administration and health department in association with the Press Club, Karimganj at B. Ed College premises, MP Mallah said vaccination is the lethal weapon against the fight of Coronavrus and called upon everyone to get vaccinated.

Extending his thanks to Health Minister Keshab Mahanta for the vaccination camp for the media persons and their families, Mallah said the media persons are front line COVID warriors as they report from the field amidst the pandemic at great peril to their lives and the vaccination would protect them and their families from getting infected by the disease. Urging everyone not to panic but to adopt all precautions and to follow the SoPs issued by the State and Central Governments for preventing the spread of the virus in the society.

Editor of Daily Nababarta Prasanga, Habibur Rahman Choudhury said more and more people are coming out to get inoculated but there are some who fear that the COVID vaccine would do more harm than good. Stressing on the need to dispel wrong notions about the vaccines, Choudhury said immunisation would help to boost the immune system.

Speaking on the occasion, DIPRO, Sabir Nishat while thanking the administration for organising the vaccination camp for the media persons and their families, said one has to follow the COVID protocols issued by the government vis-a-vis wearing masks, social distancing and washing hands with soap and water to keep COVID at bay. He said even after vaccination one has to adhere to the protocols to keep themselves protected as cases of infection have been detected even after second doses of vaccination.

Joint Director, Health Services, Anup Daityari said all out efforts are on to contain the spread of the disease in the district through a slew of initiatives by the district administration and health authorities. He said that only through vaccination and adhering to COVID appropriate behaviours would help to win the battle against the disease.
In his address, Dr Manash Das, said if someone is infected with COVID-19 after 1st dose, 2nd dose is to be deferred by three months after clinical recovery from COVID-19 illness.

President of Press Club, Karimganj, Mihir Debnath and Secretary, Arup Roy while thanking the Health Minister and the district and health authorities for conducting the vaccination camp,, hoped that a few more such camps would be organised by the authorities in the coming days across the district for the media persons and their families.

MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, ADC, James Aind and DPM, Hanif Md Kaushar Alam also visited the vaccination centre. Around 300 family members of the press fraternity took the first jab on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Karimganj Press Club also conducted a vaccination camp for media persons and their families at Prashanti.
