COVID-19: Meghalaya to shut all entry points from 23 to 31 July
July 16: The Meghalaya government has decided to close all entry points of the state from July 24 to 31, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said on Wednesday. The following entry points will remain shut : Byrnihat, Ratacherra, Bajengdoba, Tikrikilla, Mirjumla and Hallidayganj.
Further, the Meghalaya government has decided to shift its entry checking point at Byrnihat in Ri Bhoi district to another location. Meghalaya Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong said, “We have decided to shift our entry point at Byrnihat to another location near the Umtrew bridge because of complaint from the Assam government.”

Ascertaining the reason for this closure, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had earlier tweeted, “To unburden our health, frontline workers and district administration engaged in intensive surveillance for the past 4 months, the government has decided to close all entry points of the state (Byrnihat, Ratacherra, Bajengdoba, Tikrikilla, Mirjumla and Hallidayganj) from July 24-31, 2020.”
