Counterfeit currency of Rs. 30 Lakhs seized in Guwahati, arrested 5
way2barak, Oct 14 : In response to information received concerning the dealing and delivery of counterfeit Indian currency notes (FICN) with a total value of 30 lakhs, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam initiated an operation in Guwahati in the evening of 13th Oct. The STF team executed a raid at a rented residence located at Dakhingaon, Saukuchi Road, under the jurisdiction of Hatigaon Police Station. As a result, five individuals were apprehended. They are Nizam Ali (50), resident of North Lakhimpur, Hafizur Rahman (36), resident of North Lakhimpur, Abdul Rajak (46), resident of Lakhimpur, Munindra Hazarika (44), resident of Lakhimpur and Atikur Rahman (38), resident of Hatigaon, Kamrup Matro.
During the search operations, the items were recovered from their possession: 26 counterfeit notes of Rs. 500 denomination (FICN), 6 mobile phones, 6 black-colored papers of Rs. 500 size, which can be converted into Rs. 500 FICN when a specific chemical is applied, 1 bottle containing a liquid chemical used for developing Rs. 500 denomination counterfeit notes, 1 bottle containing a suspected liquid chemical, One bundle of black papers in the size of Rs. 500 notes used for counterfeiting, One brown-colored tape and one white-colored plastic marketing bag, Cash amounting to Rs. 7,700 and One Scorpio vehicle.
The apprehended individuals and the seized items have been handed over to the OC of the local Hatigaon Police Station for the registration of a case, investigation, and the initiation of necessary legal actions.
