Controversy about physical standards for new posts, Assam Police issues clarification

Dec. 15: In connection with the recently released recruitment notice for the newly created Assam Command Battalion, Assam Police has been receiving some complaints about the Physical Standards (Height & Chest Size) being unrealistic for the youths belonging to general category.

Issuing a clarification in this connection, Assam Police stated, “We want to reiterate that these Physical Standards are kept in line with the aim of creating a very high standard command force and we cannot compromise on it. For those who think that these Standards are unrealistic, we’d like to inform the candidates that in our last recruitment drive for 6k+ AB/UB Constables, we had thousands of general candidates who fulfilled these conditions.” Assam Police further stated, “A brief summary of those candidates is given below:

These Physical Standards were kept with particular purpose, and we are sure that we will achieve the said purpose.”
