Silchar’s Sohan Sharma gets recognition from Assam govt for his photography skills
Nov. 24: A youth from Silchar was recently recognised by Assam government for his extraordinary skills in photography. In connection with celebration of ‘World Heritage Week, 2020’, an online photography contest was organised. The said contest was organised by Photography Club of Assam in collaboration with Directorate of Archaeology, Assam. The theme of the online photography contest was ‘Glory of the Past.’
The contest was mainly to uphold the rich history of the past. Taking part in this online photography context, Sohan Sharma from Silchar clicked a picture of the Royal Palace of the Kachari Kings of Khaspur in Cachar district. His photography earned wide praise for both its aesthetics and rich colour. Though he failed to grab a position for him in the 1st three position, but he was placed in the 4th position.
In a programme organised at Na-Pukhuri Archaeological site in Sivasagar District of Assam, Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal presented a citiation and cash award of Rs.5000 to Sonhan Sharma on 19 November. The function was also graced by Keshab Mahanta, Minister Cultural Affairs (Archaeology and Library) Services, Jogen Mohon, Minister PWD etc, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and many other dignitaries . Sohan was congratulated by many for his achievement.
