CM declares ₹25 crore for development projects in Assam University

Jan. 21: Rs. 25 crore will be given by the state government to Assam University, Silchar for pursuing development works in the campus. This was announced by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma while participating in the 29th Foundation Day of Assam University as the Chief Guest on Friday.

CM Assam during his speech in the University said, “Assam University is a Central University, but they also helps us as it is an affiliating University for our colleges. So we have a very cordial and organic link with Assam University. I would like to place Rs. 25 crores from Assam government for the development of Assam University.” The CM further urged upon the University authorities to provide the state government a detailed plan and the assured amount of Rs.25 crore will be released in a time span of 2 years.

The CM further suggested, “With this amount you can create a hostel, an innovation lab etc. The choice is yours. You are free to decide how you want to spent that amount. I don’t want to dictate the terms on which you want to spend that money.”

CM Assam is on a one-day tour of Silchar. Earlier during the day, he inaugurated a Cath Lab at SMCH and a 50-seat resident doctors’ hostel.
