CM announces Lakhipur package: GNM Nursing centre, stadium, integrated SDO(C) office & science stream at Nehru College
The government hospital in Lakhipur will be upgraded to 100 bedded Civil Hospital: CM Assam
Jan. 30: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma came to Silchar on a day’s visit on Sunday. In a move to improve connectivity for the convenience of commuters, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone for construction of balance work of Saheed Nandachand RCC bridge over river Chiri on Sibpur-Lakhipur road in Lakhipur in Cachar district today. Along with completion of the balance work of the main bridge, the project also includes approach road and protection work under RIDF XXVII of NABARD.
Further, the Chief Minister announced a bouquet of schemes for Lakhipur. He declared that Rs. 25 crore shall be spent for construction of integrated SDO (Civil) officer. Further, Rs. 12 crore was also sanctioned for a stadium at Lakhipur. He also assured to set up a GNM nursing institute there. Apart from this, CM Sarma also announced that Nehru College, Pailapool, which is the only college in Lakhipur sub-division will have science stream from the next academic year. The government hospital in Lakhipur will be upgraded to 100 bedded Civil Hospital, Dr. Sarma added.
Taking to his twitter handle, CM Dr Sarma wrote, “Happy to announce ₹25 cr for constructing integrated SDO(C) office & ₹12 cr for a stadium during my visit to Lakhipur. A GNM nursing institute will also be set up & science stream introduced at Nehru College, while the Govt hospital will be upgraded to a 100-bed Civil Hospital.”
