SMCH fraternity condemns ruckus in campus by ‘outsiders’; stages ‘solidarity assembly’
Feb. 3: On Wednesday afternoon, students, faculty members, junior doctors of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) staged a ‘solidarity assembly’ in front of the administrative building. In a joint press release Teachers’ Association of SMCH, Junior Doctors’ Association of SMCH and Students’ Union SMCH alleged that a group of outsiders on Tuesday entered SMCH and tried to gatecrash into the administrative block. “Upon encountering resistance, they assaulted a security guard & entered into alteration with the students,” they added. They further alleged that these outsiders created a terrible ruckus inside the campus and thereby disturbed the peace and tranquility.
In the joint press release, they lamented on the fact that after offering their best possible service round the clock during COVID-19, they often have to face such untoward situation from miscreants. They further stated that in the immediate aftermath of Tuesday’s incident, the college authority has taken welcome steps. They stated, “Today’s solidarity assembly along with wearing of black badges was to display our unity and resolve. Our assembly was to show our solidarity with our administrative authorities. We condemn the attempts by outsiders and miscreants who attempted to destroy the sanctity of our college.” In bold words, they condemned such attempts to destroy the peace and tranquility prevailing in SMCH.
The joint press release was signed by Dr. Biswadeep Choudhury, Dr. Abhijit Das, Dr. Dipankar Rabha, Dr. Rishab Kar, Abhishek Baidya and Md. Abdul Sattar.
