Corona scare: Baruni Mela cancelled by district administration

March 12: As per government instruction received from the Secretary to the Government of Assam, Social Welfare Department, the upcoming Baruni Mela is cancelled to reduce mass gathering to avoid the spread of COVID-19, Novel Corona Virus disease.

This order was issued with immediate effect by the District Administration Cachar cancelling all previous permission for public gathering. This was stated in a press release issued by the Regional office of Information and Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone.
