Chirukandi Sub-station still submerged; use electricity judiciously: APDCL
July 11: In an appeal to the consumers, APDCL Silchar Electrical Sub-Division II stated that since the 33/11 KV Chirukandi Sub-station is still submerged in water & not yet ready for operation, the entire load of the 11 KV Chirukandi feeder No. 4 which caters to prime areas like National Highway, Das Colony, Sonai Road, Tarani Road, Shantipur Lane 1 & 2, Hrishi Arabinda Sarani, part of Sonai Road etc. has been diverted to 33/11 KV Meherpur Sub-station.
It was further stated that due to rise in daily temperature in post-flood scenario, there has been significant increase in electricity consumption, which has led to overloading of 11 KV feeders of Meherpur Sub-station beyond permissible limit. This has forced APDCL to isolate some sections of the feeders to keep the system functioning.
In a public statement, APDCL wrote, “We would like to request our esteemed consumers to use electricity judiciously and avoid the use of non-essential electrical load as far as possible. Please run the AC on ECO mode ( set temperature at 25 degree Celsius). Your co-operation will help us to run our system smoothly & provide you better supply.”
