Centre not framing standardisation of contracts for contractual or guest teachers
way2barak, 3 December: The Centre is not considering establishing any national framework for the standardisation of contracts and wages for contractual or guest teachers in the country, said MoS for Education Sukanta Majumdar in the Lok Sabha on Monday in reply to a question raised by Patiala MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi.
Gandhi had raised the issue of regularisation of contractual teachers or paying them equally for work performed by them in colleges. As per the All-India Survey on Higher Education, there were 10,81,116 permanent faculty members in public universities and colleges; and 2,43,075 faculty members on a contractual basis. In private institutions, there are 1,54,621 regular faculty members and 10,453 are working on a contractual basis.
