Centre approves nasal vaccine for COVID-19

way2barak, Dec.23: Government of India has approved has approved Bharat Biotech’s intranasal vaccine, iNCOVACC ( a Nasal vaccine for Covid-19). It will be used as a heterologous booster and will be available first in private hospitals. It will be included in COVID-19 vaccination program from 23 December. It is effective in blocking the infection and transmission as it initiates an immune response at the infection site which is the nasal mucosa. This vaccine is expected to be administered to those above 18 years of age. Details of the pricing and availability will soon be updated in the CoWIN portal.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has also urged states to increase awareness about booster vaccine doses. This comes in the backdrop of surge of Covid-19 cases in China, USA and some other countries.
