Central Herbarium of Assam University was inaugurated on 19th May

Way2barak, May 20 : Inauguration of Central Herbarium of Assam University was made a part of 19th May celebration. Vice Chancellor Rajive Mohan Pant formally Inaugurated the Herbarium by clicking the button of Webportal of New York Botanical Garden US on Friday.

In his speech Prof. Manabendra Dutta Choudhury said, that 19th May 1961 was the source of inspiration for establishment of Assam University. It’s a holi day for the University Community as such Inauguration of Central Herbarium on 19th May carries a special message.

Registrar Assam University Dr. P K Nath said, 19th May has given us a mandate to move forward. Inauguration of Central Herbarium after getting indexing from International authority is one more step forward towards our growth of Assam University.

Vice Chancellor Professor Rajive Mohan Pant congratulated Department of Life Science and Bioinformatics for taking Assam University further forward by getting the Herbarium recognised as Central Herbarium with its own Acronym ‘AUSCH’.

Other who delivered speech in the Programme were Dean School of Life Science , Head Dept of Life Science and Herbarium Curator Dr Debjyoti Bhattacharya. A booklet about Herbarium was released in the programme .
