CBSE & ICSE remaining board examinations of Class X, XII cancelled
June 25: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to cancel the pending exams for class X and class XII. The remaining examinations which were earlier scheduled to be conducted between 1 July and 15 July due to COVID19 pandemic will now not be held. CBSE has further agreed to declare the results of Class X & XII by 15 July. The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) also agreed “in-principle” with the government decision to cancel the pending exams.
Class 12 students will be evaluated on their performance in the last three school exams. They can also appear for the board exam at a later date to improve performance, in case they are not satisfied with the marks given by the board. For Class 10 students, however, no such option is available.
Supreme Court bench led by J AM Khanwilkar heard the plea seeking cancellation of remaining CBSE exams due to COVID19. The court, which was hearing petitions seeking cancellation of remaining Class 10 and Class 12 examinations, was told that the CBSE academic calender has been shifted and all entrance examination dates have to be accordingly adjusted.
