Cachar shines in Gunotsav 2025 : 11th rank with outstanding performance

Way2barak, March 27 : Marking a significant milestone in its journey towards academic excellence, Cachar district has made a commendable leap in Gunotsav 2025, securing the 11th rank across Assam. This notable rise from 13th position last year is a clear reflection of the district’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its education system and enhancing learning outcomes for students.
This year’s evaluation process was extensive, covering 2,175 schools and assessing 2,34,163 students. Demonstrating a remarkable level of engagement, 2,29,233 students actively participated in the assessment, achieving a 97.89% participation rate. The evaluation was meticulously conducted by 893 external evaluators, while 227 liaison officers played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and fair execution of the process.
The results of Gunotsav 2025 highlight a significant improvement in school performance across Cachar. Out of 1,816 evaluated schools, a remarkable 905 institutions secured the prestigious A+ grade, while 651 schools attained an A grade. Additionally, 185 schools were graded B, 61 schools received C grade, and only 14 schools were categorized as D. The surge in A+ graded schools to 49.83% from 44.54% in 2024 is a testament to the district’s dedicated efforts towards academic excellence.
Expressing his satisfaction over this achievement, Cachar’s District Commissioner , Mridul Yadav lauded the collective efforts of teachers, students, Officers and Officials of education department and administrative officials. “This outstanding performance is a result of sheer dedication and relentless hard work. The increase in A+ graded schools signifies our commitment to fostering a robust education system. We will continue to strive towards providing quality learning opportunities for every child in Cachar,” he stated.
Gunotsav is a flagship initiative of the Assam Government aimed at assessing and improving the quality of education in government schools. It serves as a crucial platform for evaluating students’ learning levels, identifying infrastructural needs, and implementing targeted measures for improvement. The sixth round of Gunotsav, conducted from January 6 to February 7, 2025, spanned three phases and included students from Classes I to IX across government and provincialized schools, including Tea Garden Model Schools, Adarsha Vidyalayas, Residential School for Boys and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs).
The evaluation process witnessed the active involvement of senior government officials, including Hon’ble Ministers, MLAs, IAS, IPS, IFS officers, Officer of Different Departments and College faculties who played a pivotal role as external evaluators. The broader impact of Gunotsav is evident across Assam, with 13,300 schools achieving A+ grades, a dramatic increase from 6,037 schools in 2017 when the initiative first began. In addition, the Assam Government has taken significant steps to bridge infrastructural gaps by constructing additional classrooms, upgrading sanitation facilities, and ensuring school electrification under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).
With Gunotsav 2025 reaffirming Cachar’s commitment to academic progress, the district is poised for even greater achievements in the years ahead. This success not only marks a proud moment for Cachar but also sets a benchmark for continuous improvement in the state’s education sector, ensuring that every child receives the quality education they deserve.
