Cachar registers 215 +ve cases on Tuesday, doctors & many lab technicians found positive
5 patients died at SMCH in the last 24 hours
August 18: On Tuesday, 215 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive. However, there are chances that the number might increase at night. Out of the 215 new positive cases, 185 persons were detected positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas, the rest 30 persons were found positive in RT-PCR Test.This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert.
Further, till now, 4358 patients were infected with coronavirus in Cachar district. As of now, 2739 persons got cured and were discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care Centres. At present, there are 2739 active cases in Cachar. The district registered 14 deaths due to COVID-19 as of now.
Suman Choudhury further informed that many technicians involved in COVID test were found positive during the day. He said, “This will create some problem in continuing with coronavirus test from Wednesday.” He further informed that as per the direction of Joint Director of Health, COVID-19 testing facility will be available at SM Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar. People with SARI & ILI symptoms can go for test at civil hospital. He also informed that due to some unavoidable circumstances, Covid test in Urban PHC will not be held until further notice. However, people intending to go for test can visit ISBT.
On Tuesday, 18 persons were tested positive as per the results of the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test in Cachar district. Eminent Pediatrician Dr. D.J. Nath of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), Dr. Dhrubajyoti Nath (D.J. Nath) found positive in RT-PCR Test on Tuesday. As per reports, Dr. D.J. Nath (43) gave him swab sample on 17 August and his positive report came on 18 August. he is asymptomatic. This was confirmed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH.
Further, a health worker who is an employee of the Department of Microbiology, SMCH also tested positive in RT-PCR Test. The health worker, Haider Hussain Choudhury (33) was infected with coronavirus as he came in contact with a confirmed case. He too is asymptomatic.
Apart from them, 3 persons from Lane No.10 of 2nd Link Road were found positive. They are a 77-year-old male, 20-year-old male and a 50-year-old female. Another 3 from Silchar National Highway were also tested positive during the day. They are a 50 years old female, 26 years old female and a 65 years old male from the same family. Apart from them, 7 persons from Joypur Part-I were found positive. Another 2 male and a female from Masimpur Military Station were detected as COVID-19 positive. All of them are asymptomatic. They were infected after they came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case.
The 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test Results contained particulars of 12 more persons who tested positive on Tuesday in Cachar. As per this list, another doctor tested positive. Dr. Vivek Kumar Sahu from Old PG Hostel of SMCH was found positive. Again, a health worker from Microbiology Department of SMCH came in contact with a positive case and was tested positive. A 35-year-old female from Tarapur had fever and when tested, she was found positive. Other patients detected positive in the 2nd slot are from Sonai Road, Binnakandi Cha Bagan, Jamira Part-III, Premtola, Trunk Road, Itkhola Bazar, Tarapur and Madhurbond PHE Road.
