Cachar DC chairs executive meeting at SM Dev Civil Hospital*, outlines key healthcare initiatives
During the session, DC Yadav conducted an in-depth review of the hospital’s overall performance and highlighted critical areas needing immediate attention. Among the primary directives was the installation of CCTV cameras throughout the hospital to bolster the safety and security of medical professionals and staff. DC Yadav also instructed the Hospital Management Committee to initiate the renovation of a designated room for the installation of a new digital X-ray machine.
To address the shortage of radiologists, DC Yadav announced that a private radiologist, funded by the National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, would be engaged to meet the hospital’s diagnostic requirements. In response to ongoing water supply challenges, he directed the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department to prepare an estimate for an alternative water supply system, to be executed in collaboration with the Silchar Municipal Board.
Following the meeting, DC Yadav personally inspected various departments, including the Outpatient Department (OPD), Obstetrics and Gynecology Ward, Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre (NRC), Pediatric Ward, Blood Center, CT Scan Unit, and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Pleased with the overall cleanliness, he particularly commended the Blood Center for its exceptional service. In recognition of their dedication to maintaining hygiene standards, two sanitation workers, known as Swachcha Mitras, were also felicitated by the DC on the occasion.
To ensure seamless patient care, DC Yadav emphasized the need for an accurate daily duty roster for doctors. He also reviewed the ongoing Special Antenatal Care (ANC) Campaign and Sampoornata Abhiyan, urging 100% coverage during the ANC drive, with special focus on Jalalpur Block Primary Health Center (BPHC), Udharbond BPHC, and the Silchar Urban areas. Additionally, he stressed the importance of monitoring the four key Aspirational Block Programme (ABP) indicators at Lakhipur BPHC to sustain the gains achieved during the Sampoornata Abhiyan.
The meeting concluded with a clear roadmap for implementing these directives. It was attended by several key officials, including Dr. Khaleda Sultana Ahmed, Additional District Commissioner (Health), Dr. Ashutosh Barman, Joint Director of Health Services, and Dr. Arup Kumar Patoa, Superintendent of S.M. Dev Civil Hospital. Representatives from NHM, the Indian Medical Association, and hospital engineers were also present. This comprehensive initiative is a significant step toward improving healthcare infrastructure and service delivery at S.M. Dev Civil Hospital, ensuring better care for the community.
