Cachar achieves numerous accolades in Kayakalp Awards; Civil Hospital to get award of ₹5 lakh
July 23: Under the Kayakalp Award Programme, five hospitals in Cachar District have been nominated for awards under various categories. S. M. Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar has achieved 5th position under District Hospital Category. They will receive an award money of Rs. 3 lakh.
Under CHC category, five hospitals were nominated for the awards which includes, Kalain CHC (4th), Kathigorah Model Hospital (6th), Chotodudhpatil Model Hospital, Tikal Model Hospital and Chibitabichia Model Hospital. Each of them will receive an award amount of Rs 1 lakh.
Under PHC Category, Harinagar BPHC has topped in the district level and will receive an award of Rs. 3 Lakhs. The other hospitals under PHC Category nominated for Kayakalp award money of Rupees One Lakh are Joypur SHC, Borjalenga MPHC, Udharbond BPHC, Narsingpur MPHC, Lakhipur BPHC, Bikrampur BPHC, Urban PHC, Borkhola BPHC, Jirighat MPHC and Jalalpur BPHC.
Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli expressed her happiness over the fact that highest number of hospitals were nominated for the Kayakalp Award in Cachar. While sharing her reaction, Jalli said, “It is the collective effort of doctors, paramedics, nurses, programme managers, cleaners and each staff which has contributed to bring about this unprecedented success. The success will definitely boost the health workers and the expectations of public on Govt. Health institutions. She urged the health officials and staff to carry on the good work so that the standard can be sustained.”
It is pertinent to mention that Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J. P Nadda has launched ‘Kayakalp Award Scheme’ on May 15, 2015 as an extension of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’. The aim of this initiative is to improve and promote cleanliness, hygiene, waste management and infection control practices in public health care facilities and promote the exemplary performing facilities. The scheme is intended to encourage and incentivise Public Health Facilities (PHFs) in the country and to demonstrate their commitment for cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices.
