BSF seizes 20 buffaloes & narcotics in 2 separate incidents on Sunday
Nov. 22: Acting on specific input regarding illegal movement of cattle during night hours on 21 November, 2021 in a truck on NH-06 towards Meghalaya side for smuggling purpose, a special patrolling party of BSF along with Police placed near Gumrah Toll booth, Kalainchera Grant, Gumrah, Assam conducted a raid.
At about 11.15 PM, one suspected truck was intercepted and was signaled to stop by joint operation party. Sensing the presence of BSF and Police, the driver and his assistant fled away from the spot by taking advantage of darkness and ran towards tea garden leaving behind the truck on the road side on NH-06 near Gumrah Digarkhal Toll booth. On searching the truck, patrolling party found the truck fully loaded with cattle (Buffalo) and immediately seized them. Further, the seized cattle along with the truck was handed over to PICP Gumrah for legal action with requisition to lodge an FIR.
Details of Seizure:
- Buffalo (17-Big size, 03- medium size =total:20 ) (17 X Rs 80,000 + 03 × Rs 70,000= Rs 15,70,000)
- 01 Ashok Leyland truck (3118) having Regt. No. NL 01 AD 2105 having value of Rs 30,60,000
Total value of Seizure = Rs. 15,70,000+ Rs 30, 60,000= Rs 46,30,000 (Rupees Forty Six lakh Thirty Thousand).
In another incident, on 21 November, 2021, an input was received by BSF regarding presence of suspected drug smuggler with drugs inside a shop in village Dalgram in AoR of BOP Bilbari. A Joint operation with Police was launched to apprehend the suspected drugs smuggler.
At about 9.23 PM, during search in presence of local villagers, Police found one person Abdul Sahid (alias Kajal), 29 years, S/O Maina Mia, Village Dalgram, PO- Datta Gram, Dist Karimganj, Assam, hidden inside the shop. Further, Police recovered 103 Yaba Tablets & 13.21 gm of powder, suspected to be Brown Sugar from his possession. The seized Yaba tablets are worth Rs. 51,000 whereas, Brown Sugar amounted to Rs lakh. A Maruti Baleno Car without registration was also seized. The total value of the seizure is worth Rs. 9,51,500.
