BSF hands over body of gunned down suspected Bangladeshi cattle smuggler to BDR

August 26: The Border Security Force (BSF) gunned down a suspected Bangaleshi cattle smuggler on last Friday, who was trying to intrude into the Indian territory in Karimganj. Later on, the dead body of the suspected cattle smuggler was handed over by the BSF to the Border Guards Bangladesh (BDR).

On Friday night, a group of around 10 to 12 persons crossed the fencing and entered into the Indian territory at Fulkandi in Karimganj district, who were attempting to take away cows. However, they were spotted by the on-duty BSF patrol team and threw challenge towards them. The cattle smuggler’s in turn tried to attack the BSF jawans with sharp weapons.

Ultimately, the BSF patrol team became bound to fire bullets. Meanwhile, all except one person were able to escape. Bullets fired by the jawans hit that person who died on the spot. Sources identified the deceased cattle smuggler as Abdul Rauf. Sharp weapons, wire cutter and a Bangladeshi mobile phone was recovered from the deceased.

The dead body was then sent to Karimganj Civil Hospital. Later on, Border Guards Bangladesh (BDR) claimed the dead body. Finally, after Flag Meeting, the body was handed over to BDR by the BSF.
