Deputy Speaker inaugurates brick masonry flood barrier & Bir Tikendrajit Memorial Auditorium

Jan. 31: Sonai MLA & Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Aminul Haque Laskar on Saturday  inaugurated the work “Construction of Earth filled brick masonry flood barrier” at Sonabarighat which will be made at an expense of Rs. 2 crore. The inauguration was done in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerti Jalli, PK Turom, Chief Engineer of Water Resource Department and. Lamgtasha Saheb of the same department.

Speaking during the occasion, the Deputy Speaker said, “The demand for river erosion reform was a long awaited demand of the people of the region but was not implemented which resulted in huge losses to the people of the area. After I was elected MLA, I promised the people of this region that I would work to prevent this river erosion. Today I am very happy to be able to lay the foundation stone of that flood control work of Rs. 2 crore rupees sectioned under chief Minister special package.”

On Sunday, Deputy Speaker, Aminul Haque Laskar also inaugurated Bir Tikendrajit Memorial Auditorium at Tulargram, Sonai near the Jagannath Mandir. The work was done at an estimated amount of Rs. 3 Lakh under MLADS fund. He said, “I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to each and every member of the Bir Tikandrajit Memorial Committee, Sonai, for honouring me in today’s grand inaugural programme of this beautiful auditorium.”
