Border row: Chief Ministers of Assam & Meghalaya meets Home Minister Amit Shah
Jan. 20: On Thursday, both Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma met union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. They apprised him of the outcome of several rounds of discussions between the two state governments. The two Chief Ministers opined that the meeting with the Home minister was to find a lasting solution of their border dispute.
Later on taking to his twitter handle, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “I along with HCM Meghalaya Sri @SangmaConrad met Adarniya Griha Mantri Sri @AmitShahji in New Delhi. We apprised Hon HM on the outcomes of discussions held between Assam & Meghalaya governments to resolve the border disputes amicably. We’re grateful for his guidance.” It needs mention here that the Assam cabinet has also approved the recommendations made by the committees to resolve the Assam- Meghalaya dispute.
“Called on Hon’ble HM, @AmitShahji with HCM of Assam,@himantabiswa ji and apprised him on the reports of the Regional Committees. He expressed happiness on the initiative taken by both the States in the matter. MHA will examine the reports & we will meet HM again post 26th Jan,” Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma tweeted.
