Bleaching in a Silchar parlour ‘burns’ face of a lady; parlour owner says ‘it’s unfortunate’
Jan. 30: A post of a lady has been going viral in Facebook since Saturday afternoon. Binita Nath from Silchar who is presently a postdoctoral scholar at National Research Council in Italy. Recently, she came to Silchar to attend marriage ceremony of her sister-in-law. Just before the marriage, she went to a beauty parlour at Link Road. In a video which she posted in her Facebook wall, Binita Nath claimed that her face had a burning sensation and there erupted blisters all over her face after applying bleach on her face by the attending beautician.
In her social media post, Binita Nath said, “I am very sad to post this. I don’t like to defame people, but that is what happened to me. I am now bound to share this. I am fortunately praised by all for my skin. I am not a person much into parlour. I visited the parlour last time during my marriage 5 years back. Now as I came for my sister-in-laws marriage, so I went to Sarada Beauty Parlour near 1st Link Road. That was probably my mistake.”
Showing her face, which is ofcourse full of blisters, Mrs. Nath said, “Look, this is what they have done to my skin. Today is the 3rd day since the incident occured. My condition is only worsening. I am really scared to look at my face. In this video, the real face condition is not revealed and the condition is much worst then what you can see in this video. I have applied now white coloured lotion so it is looking little light. My entire face has swollen.”
She further alleged that, “I actually went there for facial, but then they applied bleach on my face. They also applied detan facial kit. Just then I started to feel irritation over my face. And then when they applied bleach, I felt that someone has poured hot oil on my face. I just told them to remove it immediately. They took around 5 minutes to remove it from my face. By this time, I was made a horror movie star with zero repentance.”
Binita Nath then went to say that she called the owner who ‘did not respond well.’ She said, “May be the owner is an expert, but the people who are there, the staff of that parlour are not at all expert.” In her Facebook post, she wrote, “Just to make my friends and relatives aware about the Sarada Beauty Parlour in Silchar. They are totally unprofessional. They made me a horror movie star with zero repentance. Think twice before visiting the place.”
She also termed the owner of the parlour to be “irresponsible lady” as because “she did not call back to enquire about the condition later on.” She said, “I even sent her my pictures and wrote what shall I do. But that lady did not even respond to my calls. They are totally unprofessional and I am in lot of pain also. Even my eyes have also swollen.” Binita Nath in her Facebook post also shared a picture of her where she posted one of her pictures before going to the parlour termed as “before” and a photo after the incident, which she named “after.”
Meanwhile, when our correspondent called the owners of Sarada Parlour cum Spa & Makeup Studio, the owner couple Biswadeep Deb Roy and his wife gave a somewhat different version of the incident. At the outset, the co-owner expressed deep regrets for the incident, but was quick to add that, “My staff informed me that the customer already had pimples over her face. When she insisted for bleaching, out staff told her that it is not safe to apply bleach due to the pimples. However, the client insisted the staff to go for the bleach. It was then that the unfortunate incident happened.”
As regards allegation of not responding properly to her calls, the owner stated, “My father suffered a major heart attack and so both of us were busy at the hospital and did not even visited the parlour since the last 3 to 4 days. We have been in this business since last almost 18 to 19 years. Out staff are also working in our parlour for around 9 years. had we been so irresponsible we would not have run our business to the satisfaction of large number of our clients. There must have been some misunderstanding somewhere.”
However, Binita Nath denied the allegation of insisting for bleach and rather gave a contradictory version. She is an alumna of Holy Cross School, Silchar, then did her M.Tech from NIT, Silchar and then pursued Ph.D from IIt Guwahati. Her husband too is a Postdoctoral Scholar at National Research Council in Italy along with her at present.
