BJP likely to finalise seat sharing & list of contesting candidates in CEC meeting on Thursday
March 3: On Tuesday, the Election Committee of Assam BJP held a meeting in Guwahati to shortlist candidates for the forthcoming assembly polls. The Election Committee Meeting of BJP was attended by BJP State President Ranjit Kumar Das, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Parimal Suklabaidya, Chandramohan Patwary, Dr Jitendra Singh, Dilip Saikia, Phanindra Nath, Rameshwar Teli, Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy among others.
At the end of the marathon meeting, a high level delegation from Assam left for Delhi on Wednesday. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, his Cabinet colleague Himanta Biswa Sarma and State BJP President Ranjit Kumar Das along with AGP President Atul Bora, BTR CEM Promod Boro met with Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda on Wednesday evening. The meeting took place at the residence of the Home Minister.
It needs mention here that a meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will take place in Delhi on 4 March, 2021. The seat-sharing will be finalised in that meeting. As per sources, the final list of contesting candidates of BJP-AGP in Assam will in all probability be declared by 5 March, 2021.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “A delegation of senior leaders comprising @agpofficial _ President Sri @ATULBORA2 & BTR CEM Sri @Pramodboro1 met Hon HM Sri @AmitShah & @BJP4 India President Sri @JPNadda in Delhi this evening.” In the same tweet, he informed, “We’re working out the modalities & a formal alliance will be declared tomorrow.”

The CEC Meeting will is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Ministers Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, party chief JP Nadda, party leader BL Santosh and others. The CEC will clear the name of the candidates for polls and will also release the list of the candidates. As per sources, the final list of contesting candidates of BJP-AGP in Assam will in all probability be declared by 5 March, 2021.
