194 tests positive in Cachar on Monday, numbers likely to increase at night
August 10: On Monday, till 6.30 PM, 194 persons tested COVID-19 positive in Cachar district. 17 persons were detected positive as per the results of the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test, whereas 178 of them were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). There is probability that the numbers may further rise in the night. This was disclosed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Monday evening.
Mr. Choudhury further stated that the district health department has now intensified Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) in order to stop community spread of the virus. More than 2600 rapid tests were done on Monday, out of which 194 tested positive. Rapid test is regularly done in 8 blocks of the district- Barkhola, Bikrampur, Dholai, Harinagar, Sonai, Jellalpore, Lakhipur and Udharbond. As a result, the number of positive cases are increasing. He said that this is a good sign as it is possible to identify and isolate the positive patients, which would halt the further spread of the virus. He said, “We are now providing home isolation to many of the positive patients.” He urged upon all to come forward and do the tests voluntarily.
In the 1st slot of RT-PCR results on Monday, 17 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive. There are 5 health workers in the 1st slot who tested positive. Out of them, three persons are health workers from B.SC Nursing College Hostel, Ghungoor and 2 other health workers from SMCH were also found positive. Except one, four of them are symptomatic. Further two persons, a 28-year-old male and 37-year-old female from Public School Road were also found positive. Both of them are symptomatic. A 34 years old male from Chenkuri Road with Influenza Like Illness symptoms was also tested positive. Another 28-year-old youth from Rangirkhari tested positive during the day as he came in contact with a positive case.
Further, a 56-year-old female from Meherpur was detected positive who is symptomatic. Another asymptomatic patient from Bill Bagan in Cachar was found positive. A 55-year-old female in pre-operative stage from Chirukandi tested COVID-19 positive. Moreover, 2 persons with travel history from Mumbai & West Bengal were also positive. One of them is from Sonai and the other from Udharbond. Apart from them, 1 person from BSF Camp Dholcherra and the other from 6th AP Battalion, Kathal were also detected during the day.
