Big success: Cachar Police apprehends 2 trucks full of illegal Burmese Supari worth Rs.1 cr, 5 nabbed

way2barak, Sept.3: Abiding by the zero tolerance policy as announced by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Cachar Police on Saturday achieved success by apprehending two trucks full with 200 bags of illegal Burmese Supari. Superintendent of Police, Cachar informed that the market price of the Supari seized would be around Rs.1 crore.

Interacting with the media, Police Super, Cachar said, “As part of our war against illegal Burmese syndicate, we have taken appropriate measures. As a part of these operations, we were successful in apprehending a huge consignment of illegal Burmese Supari. On the basis of a secret information, our forces were ready at Tarapur. On seeing the police, the trucks tried to move away. But the cops followed them and finally were successful in apprehending them. Also, a Baleno car was with these 2 trucks who were guiding the trucks. Finally, we arrested 5 persons, apprehended 2 trucks, 1 car along with 200 bags of Burmese supari. The market value of the seized Burmese Supari is around Rs.1 crore.”

The Registration No of the two trucks are JH10 BG 7340 and AS 11 AC 2686. The 5 persons who were arrested are: Bilal Uddin, Dilwar Hussain, Salim Uddin, Abdul Latif and Kripesh Das. “We are carrying on further investigation into this matter to unearth further links. We are finding out whether they were connected with any inter- district or inter- state or inter- border network/ syndicate. All those associated with such illegal syndicate will definitely be brought to book. Our clear message is that any such type of illegal activities will not be tolerated. We are committed to the zero tolerance policy declared by our Chief Minister,” added the Police Chief of Cachar.
