Barak Valley Welfare Development Society distributes food among the needy
April 10: The 21 days national lockdown has brought forth the humane aspect of individuals and organisations. Helping those who are in need has become the order of the day. One such NGO, Barak Valley Welfare Development Society (BVWDS) too came forward and distributed food items among those residing at Silchar Brothel, Old Age Home and also in parts of Rongpur.
They have distributed food materials like bread, biscuits, milk, cake, cookies, mineral water and fruits at Silchar Brothel and In Old Age Home. Around 250 persons were given food packets in these two places. In Rongpur area also food packets were distributed among 150 poor and needy. Here they distributed rice and mixed vegetables.
Mithun Roy, Secretary Saksham also made the people aware among the various aspects of COVID-19. Pinak Roy and other members of Rising Youth Society & Joynarayan Pandey, Program Manager of Kripa Foundation were also present there. On behalf of Barak Valley Welfare Development Society (BVWDS), its Executive Director Gaurav Chanda, Project Director of Ujjawala Puja Das distributed the food materials.
Executive Director of BVWDS, Gaurav Chanda said, “I would like to thank all our members and also the members from other organisations who came forward during this food distribution programme. We are always ready to Help, Save & Serve” The President and the entire team of BVWDS offered thanks to all the donors, District Health Society, Cachar, Cachar Police, Media Partners and other well Wishers for there support.”
