Barak Valley registers 443 Covid +ve cases on Friday, 940 discharged & 3 deaths at SMCH
There are 4,559 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
June 11: The number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Friday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was somewhat less. A total of 443 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 940 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 4,559 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Thursday, Barak Valley registered 527 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Friday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 311 positive cases (It was 359 on Thursday)
- Karimganj: 82 positive cases (It was 115 on Thursday)
- Hailakandi: 50 positive cases (It was 53 on Thursday)
A total of 311 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Friday in Cachar. As per the updated data, 3,766 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done on Friday, out of which, 221 persons were found positive, whereas 90 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. As per sources, during the day, out of the 90 positive cases detected in RT-PCR test, 28 of them were found positive in Mzargram Tea Estate. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 14,466 whereas during this phase, 11,770 patients were discharged. Also, 688 patients were discharged on Friday. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 2,557. Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 9 June to 5 PM on 10 June) witnessed demise of 02 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Both of them are from Cachar district.
The deceased were identified as Ganga Prasad Dhobi (75) from Kamranga Part-II in Cachar and Deb Charan Ree (58) from Darangkhal in Cachar.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 10 June, there were 213 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 82 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 131 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 22 patients were put under ventilator support and 141 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 32 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 30 of them were discharged. Further, 17 of them have opted for home isolation.
Hailakandi registered 50 new COVID-19 cases on Friday. Of the 50 positive cases detected on Friday, 46 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 04 found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 934 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 2,326 RAT tests and 296 RT-PCR tests were done. 134 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,041. As of now, a total of 2,699 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 53 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Thursday.
As of now, in the 59,378 persons have received the 1st dose of the vaccine (irrespective of age), whereas, 17,159 have been administered the 2nd dose in Hailakandi district.
Karimganj registered 82 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday. The district has currently 1,068 active COVID-19 cases, while 118 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Thursday. 4,374 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 115 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Thursday.
On Friday, out of 1,69,528 tests, 3,666 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 4,53,867. The positivity rate in the state is 2.16 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 341 positive cases during the day. Further, on Friday, 29 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. On Friday, 5,241 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 4,03,170 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 45,477 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 29 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 29 deceased, 04 are from Cachar; 03 from Baksa; 02 each from Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Hojai, Kamrup Rural, Morigaon, Sonitpur & Tinsukia; 01 each from Dibrugarh, Dima Hasao, Golaghat, Kamrup metro, Karbi Anglong, Kokhrajhar, Nalbari & Sivasagar. The death tally of the state now stands at 3,873.
