Barak Valley registers 434 Covid +ve cases on Monday, 414 discharged & 4 deaths recorded

There are 4,095 active Covid cases in Barak Valley

June 14: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. However, on Monday, the number of fresh cases in the valley increased once again. A total of 434 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day.  Further, during the day, 414 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three  districts of the valley. At present, there are 4,095 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Sunday, Barak Valley registered 226 positive cases.

Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Monday in Barak Valley:

  • Cachar: 298 positive cases   (It was 150 on Sunday)
  • Karimganj: 102 positive cases (It was 42 on Sunday)
  • Hailakandi: 34 positive cases (It was 34 on Sunday)

 A total of 298 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Monday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 7,773 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 229 persons were found positive, whereas 69 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test.  With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 15,173, whereas during this phase, 12,727 patients were discharged. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 2,298. This was informed by DIPRO Cachar on Monday night. Also, 290 patients were discharged during the day. Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 13 June to 5 PM on 14 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) and 01 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the three deceased on Monday, 03 are from Cachar district and 01 from Hailakandi.

The deceased were identified as Bhiru Nath (65) from Chenkuri Kanchanpur in Cachar, BimalKumar Das (75) from Rangirkhari, Silchar and Joy Narayan Satnami (61) from Manipurbazar in Hailakandi district. The details about the 4th deceased from Silchar at Green Heals Pvt Hospital was not known till the filing of this report.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 14 June, there were 181 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 91 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 90 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 21 patients were put under ventilator support and 124 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 21 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 16 of them were discharged. Further, 21 of them have opted for home isolation.

Hailakandi registered 34 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. Of the 34 positive cases detected on Monday, 34 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and none were found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 746 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 2,253 RAT tests and 215 RT-PCR tests were done. 49 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,166. As of now, a total of 3,011 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 34 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Sunday.

As of now, in the 60,070 persons have received the 1st dose of the vaccine (irrespective of age), whereas, 17,445 have been administered the 2nd dose in Hailakandi district.

Karimganj registered 102 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday. The district has currently 1,051 active COVID-19 cases, while 75 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Monday. 3,907 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 42 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Sunday.

On Monday, out of 1,46,046 tests, 3,678 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 4,63,175. The positivity rate in the state is 2.52 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 232 positive cases during the day. Further, on Monday, 43 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 3,994. The recovery rate is 90.34 percent. On Monday, 4,299 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 4,18,472 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. This was confirmed in a tweet by NHM, Assam. The recovery rate in the state is 90.34 percent.  At present, there are 39,362 active cases in the state.

Further, during the day, 42 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 42 deceased, 07 are from Jorhat; 05 from Dibrugarh; 04 each from Sivasagar & Sonitpur; 03 each from Golaghat & Kamrup Metro; 02 each from Hailakandi, Morigaon & Nagaon; 01 each from Baksa, Biswanath, Cachar, Charaideo, Hojai, Kamrup Rural, Karbi Anglong, Nalbari, Tinsukia & Udalguri. The death tally of the state now stands at 3,915.
