Barak Valley registers 385 Covid +ve cases on Tuesday, 415 discharged & 2 deaths recorded
There are 4,197 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
June 15: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Tuesday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was somewhat less. A total of 385 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 415 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 4,197 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Monday, Barak Valley registered 434 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Tuesday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 259 positive cases (It was 298 on Monday)
- Karimganj: 74 positive cases (It was 102 on Monday)
- Hailakandi: 52 positive cases (It was 34 on Monday)
A total of 259 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Tuesday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 4,831 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 189 persons were found positive, whereas 70 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 15,552, whereas during this phase, 13,026 patients were discharged. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 2,375. This was informed by DIPRO Cachar on Tuesday night. Also, 299 patients were discharged during the day. Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 14 June to 5 PM on 15 June) witnessed demise of 02 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), although none of them are from Cachar. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the three deceased on Tuesday, 01 of them is from Karimganj district and the other is from Hailakandi.
The deceased were identified as Nitai Chandra Dey (56) from Shyama Prasad Road in Karimganj and Kamala Bibi Majumder (45) from Chiparsangan Part-II in Hailakandi district.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 15 June, there were 160 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 93 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 67 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 23 patients were put under ventilator support and 119 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 16 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 34 of them were discharged. Further, 16 of them have opted for home isolation.
Hailakandi registered 52 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. Of the 52 positive cases detected on Tuesday, 49 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 03 were found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 740 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,958 RAT tests and 388 RT-PCR tests were done. 56 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,218. As of now, a total of 3,067 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 34 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Monday.
As of now, in the 60,431 persons have received the 1st dose of the vaccine (irrespective of age), whereas, 17,221 have been administered the 2nd dose in Hailakandi district.
Karimganj registered 74 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. The district has currently 1,064 active COVID-19 cases, while 60 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Tuesday. 3,632 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 102 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Monday.
On Tuesday, out of 1,32,929 tests, 3,415 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 4,66,590. The positivity rate in the state is 2.57 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 204 positive cases during the day. Further, on Tuesday, 34 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,028. The recovery rate is 90.31 percent. On Tuesday, 2,906 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 4,21,378 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 39,837 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 34 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 34 deceased, 05 are from Tinsukia; 04 from Lakhimpur; 03 each from Jorhat & Nagaon; 02 each from Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Kamrup Metro, Karbi Anglong & Sivasagar; 01 each from Baksa, Cachar, Hojai, Kamrup Rural, Karimganj, Sonitpur & Udalguri. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,028.
