Barak Valley registers 307 Covid +ve cases on Tuesday, 345 discharged & 1 death recorded

There are 3,131 active Covid cases in Barak Valley

June 22: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Tuesday, the number of fresh cases in the valley increased once again. A total of 307 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day.  Further, during the day, 345 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three  districts of the valley. At present, there are 3,131 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Monday, Barak Valley registered 265 positive cases.

Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Tuesday in Barak Valley:

  • Cachar: 203 positive cases   (It was 98 on Monday)
  • Karimganj: 87 positive cases (It was 39 on Monday)
  • Hailakandi: 17 positive cases (It was 13 on Monday)

 A total of 203 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Tuesday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 20,882 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 131 persons were found positive, whereas 72 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 16,798, whereas during this phase, 14,949 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,688.  Also, 155 patients were discharged during the day.  With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,688. Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 21 June to 5 PM on 22 June) witnessed demise of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. The detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. The deceased is from Cachar district. The deceased was identified as:

  • Anil Kumar Sinha (68) from Bekirpar, Kabuganj in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 20 June. The patient, however, passed away at 8.10 AM on 22 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 22 June, there were 114 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 64 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 50 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 13 patients were put under ventilator support and 86 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 22 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 29 of them were discharged.

Hailakandi registered only 17 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. Of the 17 positive cases detected on Tuesday, 15 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas 02 persons were found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 465 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,835 RAT tests and 372 RT-PCR tests were done. 67 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,404. As of now, a total of 3,544 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 18 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Monday.

Karimganj registered 87 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. The district has currently 978 active COVID-19 cases, while 123 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Tuesday. 5,016 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 66 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Monday.

On Tuesday, out of 1,52,720 tests, 2,869 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 4,88,179. The positivity rate in the state is 1.88 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 198 positive cases during the day. Further, on Tuesday, 37 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,280. The recovery rate is 92.37 percent. On Tuesday, 2,482 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 4,50,924 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 31,628 active cases in the state.

Further, during the day, 37 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 37 deceased, 04 each are from Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup Metro & Sonitpur; 03 from Kamrup Rural; 02 each from Baksa, Dhubri, Hojai, Nagaon, Sivasagar & Tinsukia; 01 each from Barpeta, Charaideo, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Nalbari & Udalguri. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,280.
