Barak Valley registers 190 Covid +ve cases on Friday, 266 discharged
There are 2,619 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
June 25: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Friday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was increased once again. A total of 190 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 266 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 2,619 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Thursday, Barak Valley registered 165 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Friday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 124 positive cases (It was 96 on Thursday)
- Karimganj: 50 positive cases (It was 58 on Thursday)
- Hailakandi: 16 positive cases (It was 11 on Thursday)
A total of 124 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Friday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 4,833 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 77 persons were found positive, whereas 47 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 17,187, whereas during this phase, 15,547 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,476. Also, 141 patients were discharged during the day. Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley for more than a month. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 24 June to 5 PM on 25 June) did not witness the demise of any Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. This is ofcourse a ray of hope that after more than a month, none died at SMCH being infected by coronavirus.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 25 June, there were 147 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 67 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 80 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 11 patients were put under ventilator support and 88 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 24 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 06 of them were discharged. 02 patients took admission in Covid Care centre.
Hailakandi registered only 16 new COVID-19 cases on Friday. Of the 16 positive cases detected on Friday, 15 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas 01 was detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 331 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,515 RAT tests and 216 RT-PCR tests were done. 60 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,443. As of now, a total of 3,695 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 11 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Thursday.
Karimganj registered 50 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday. The district has currently 812 active COVID-19 cases, while 65 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Friday. 4,129 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 58 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Thursday.
On Friday, out of 1,39,105 tests, 2,793 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 4,96,481. The positivity rate in the state is 2.01 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 165 positive cases during the day. Further, on Friday, 26 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,370. The recovery rate is 93.12 percent. On Friday, 3,977 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 4,62,307 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 28,457 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 26 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 26 deceased, 04 are from Dibrugarh; 03 from Kamrup Rural; 02 each from Goalpara, Kamrup Metro, Karimganj, Lakhimpur & Udalguri; 01 each from Cachar, Chirang, Dhubri, Hojai, Jorhat, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar & Sonitpur. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,370.
