Barak Valley registers 183 Covid +ve cases on Friday, 196 discharged
There are 1,205 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
July 2: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. However, on Friday, the number of fresh cases in the valley increased once again. A total of 183 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 196 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 1,205 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Thursday, Barak Valley registered 111 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Friday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 93 positive cases (It was 75 on Thursday)
- Karimganj: 76 positive cases (It was 27 on Thursday)
- Hailakandi: 14 positive cases (It was 09 on Thursday)
A total of 93 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Friday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 12,627 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 57 persons were found positive, whereas 36 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 17,725, whereas during this phase, 17,049 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 508. Also, 118 patients were discharged during the day. Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley for more than a month with a gap of two days in between. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 1 July to 5 PM on 2 July) again did not witness the death of any Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Thursday evening.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 2 July, there were 104 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 46 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 58 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 12 patients were put under ventilator support and 72 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 19 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 35 of them were discharged.
Hailakandi registered 14 new COVID-19 cases on Friday. Of the 14 positive cases detected on Friday, 11 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas 03 persons were were detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 124 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,475 RAT tests and 328 RT-PCR tests were done. 24 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,528 (both 1st & 2nd wave). As of now, a total of 3,985 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 09 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Thursday.
Karimganj registered 76 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday. The district has currently 573 active COVID-19 cases, while 54 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Friday. 5,152 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 27 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Thursday.
On Friday, out of 1,53, tests, 2,669 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 5,13,606. The positivity rate in the state is 1.59 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 186 positive cases during the day. Further, on Friday, 27 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,604. The recovery rate is 94.19 percent. On Friday, 2,902 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 4,83,741 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 23,914 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 27 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 27 deceased, 04 each are from Jorhat, Nagaon, Sonitpur & Tinsukia; 02 each from Golaghat & Karbi Anglong; 01 each from Barpeta, Charaideo, Hojai, Kamrup Metro, Majuli, Nalbari & Udalguri. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,604.
