Barak Valley registers 122 positive cases on Saturday
July 18: The number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Saturday, a total of 122 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley. Further, a total of 30 patients were discharged from the three districts of Barak Valley on Saturday. State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed concern at the rising number of positive cases in the state. In a tweet , he urged upon the people to stay home and stay safe. Here is the district-wise break up:
- Cachar: 27 positive cases
- Karimganj: 27 positive cases
- Hailakandi: 68 positive cases
Apart from the valley, the state too recorded a huge number of positive cases of Saturday. 1117 persons tested positive in Assam on Saturday, thereby taking the state tally to 22,981. As of now, there are 7760 active cases in the state. Meanwhile, 1060 patients were also discharged from across the state during the day. With this, a total of 15,165 persons were discharged in Assam. Saturday also witnessed death of 2 COVID-19 patients, thereby taking the death tally of the state to 53.
