Barak Valley registers 119 Covid +ve cases on Friday, 109 discharged & 1 death reported
There are 577 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
July 23: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Friday, the number of fresh cases in the valley increased again. A total of 119 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 109 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 577 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Thursday, Barak Valley registered 98 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Friday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 81 positive cases (It was 54 on Thursday)
- Karimganj: 27 positive cases (It was 37 on Thursday)
- Hailakandi: 11 positive cases (It was 07 on Thursday)
A total of 81 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Friday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 5,074 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 65 persons were found positive, whereas 16 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 18,764 whereas during this phase, 18,314 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 273. Also, 80 patients were discharged during the day. The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 22 July to 5 PM on 23 July) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). The detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Friday evening. The deceased was identified as:
- Parimal Dey (83) from Bipin Paul Road in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 20 July. The patient, however, passed away at 1.30 AM on 23 July.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 23 July, there were 61 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 35 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 26 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 07 patients were put under ventilator support and 48 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 07 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 13 of them were discharged.
Hailakandi registered only 11 new COVID-19 cases on Friday. Of the 11 positive cases detected on Friday, all of them have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas none were detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 64 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,443 RAT tests and 230 RT-PCR tests were done. 06 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,738 (both 1st & 2nd wave).
As of now, a total of 4,250 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 07 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Thursday. Till date 49 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district. A total of 771 persons were vaccinated till 5 PM on Friday.
Karimganj registered 27 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday. The district has currently 240 active COVID-19 cases, while 23 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Friday. 3,763 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 37 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Thursday.
On Friday, out of 1,47,175 tests, 1,621 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 5,55,842. The positivity rate in the state is 1.10 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 188 positive cases during the day. Further, on Friday, 15 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 5,091. The recovery rate is 96.22 percent. On Friday, 1,869 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 5,34,809 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 14,595 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 15 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 15 deceased, 03 are from Golaghat, 02 each from Golaghat & Sivasagar; 01 each from Baksa, Charaideo, Chirang, Kamrup metro, Karimganj, Kokhrajhar, Nagaon & Tinsukia. The death tally of the state now stands at 5,091.
