Awareness camp on Breast Cancer organised by Rotary Pink

January 3: Early detection of breast cancer will lead to hundred percent recovery, whereas, late diagnosis will lead to complications and even death. These were the words uttered by Lion Subhash Chandra Choudhury while he was addressing a gathering during an awareness camp on “Breast Cancer & Women’s Health & Hygiene.” Through Power Point Presentation, Lion Choudhury elaborated the prevention, causes and treatment of breast cancer.

The awareness camp was organised by Rotary club of Silchar Pink at Kabiura Masjid Road, Meherpur, Silchar. The programme began with the welcome address by the president Rotarian Chandana Purkayastha who also introduced the purpose of the awareness camp. Another guest speaker, Dr Bijoy Lakshmi Das Choudhury spoke on “Women’s Health & Hygiene”. She also cautioned everyone on HIV, AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

In this awareness camp, all women were advised to do ‘self breast examination’. The procedures for ‘self breast examination” were demonstrated as well as handouts were given to all those who attended the programme.
President Rotarian Chandana Purkayastha thanked the organisers especially Rahul Dasgupta & Ajmol Uddin Barbhuiya for making the event successful. She also thanked Dr. Paramita Das of the Department of Mass Communication and Prof. Joyashri Dey of the Department of Sociology, Assam University for their active participation.
