Assembly Polls 2021: Training on Voters Awareness Programme (EVM/VVPAT) conducted in full swing in Cachar

March 2: With the declaration of the poll schedule for the poll bound state, training of officials and staff drafted for various electoral tasks are going on in full swing in Cachar district. The 07 assembly constituencies of Cachar will go for the polls in the 2nd phase on 1 April, 2021. On 1 March, training was imparted on Voters Awareness Programme (EVM/VVPAT) in connection Assembly Election, 2021 at Gandhi Bhawan, Silchar. Around 160 officials in two batches were trained during the day. These officials in turn will be entrusted the work of conducting voters awareness on EVM/VVPAT in various nook and corner of Cachar district.

A total of six Assembly Level Master Trainers (ALMT’s) were detailed for imparting training EVM/VVPAT to the officials. These 06 Master Trainer’s with much expertise on EVM/VVPAT are Dr Gongesh Bhattacharjee- Asstt Professor, JN Singh College Udharbond; Kishore Kr. Deb- DRT School Razabazar; Arunabha Bhattacharjee- Asstt Professor, Radhamadhab College; Dr. Soumitra Nath, Lecturer, Silchar Polytechnic; Debobrata Acharjee, Dev. officer, LICI and Sudarshan Gupta, Asstt Professor, Radhamadhab College, Silchar. Apart from them, S.B. Dutta Choudhury (Bapi), Dev. officer, LICI was entrusted the onus of Coordinator (Master Trainer). Nabanita Hazarika, Election Officer, Silchar made arrangement for EVM machines for thee training venue.

The logistic support for the training sessions were provided by Mridul Kanti Chakraborty, Head Assistant of District Training Cell. With a vast experience of working in the training cell, Mr Chakraborty along with his team organised the venue so that hands on training could be imparted to the trainees by the Mater Trainers. Further, on 3 March, training on Postal Ballot for Absentee Voters will be imparted to 50 ALMT’s. As per sources, the 1st round of training of polling parties will begin in Cachar district from 8 March, 2021.

All the 15 assembly constituencies in the three districts of Barak Valley will go for the polls in the 2nd phase on 1 April, 2021. The elections will be held as per the Covid protocol. The voting will take place from 7 am to 6 pm. These 15 assembly constituencies are:
