ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১০ অক্টোবর : জাতীয় মূল্যায়ন ও স্বীকৃতি পরিষদের (ন্যাক) কার্যনির্বাহী কমিটির অন্যতম সদস্য হিসেবে মনোনীত হলেন আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ। শুক্রবার বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় মঞ্জুরি কমিশন (ইউজিসি) থেকে এক চিঠির মাধ্যমে উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক পন্থকে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে এই মনোনয়নের কথা জানানো হয়েছে। নির্বাহী সদস্য হিসেবে আগামী তিন বছর এই গুরু দায়িত্ব পালন করবেন তিনি। তাঁর এই নতুন দায়িত্বে গর্বিত আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় পরিবারও।

প্রসঙ্গত, ১৯৯৪ সালে দেশের উচ্চশিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলির মূল্যায়ন এবং স্বীকৃতি প্রদানের জন্য শীর্ষস্থানীয় সংস্থা ‘ন্যাক’ গঠন করে ইউজিসি। যার নেতৃত্বে রয়েছেন ইউজিসি চেয়ারম্যান স্বয়ং। ন্যাকের স্বীকৃতির ওপরই উচ্চশিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর যাবতীয় মান ও বিশেষ অনুদান নির্ভর করে।

চিঠিতে এও জানানো হয়েছে, ন্যাকের নির্বাহী কমিটির সদস্য হিসেবে দেশের বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ও উচ্চশিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান থেকে বাছাই করা তিন জন প্রতিনিধির মধ্যে তাঁকে মনোনীত করা হয়েছে। এই নিয়োগ তাঁর নেতৃত্ব ও উচ্চশিক্ষার ভবিষ্যৎ গঠনে উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতের প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলির ক্রমবর্ধমান গুরুত্বের প্রমাণ হিসেবে দেখা হচ্ছে।

আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় পরিবারের পক্ষ থেকে উপাচার্যের এই নতুন দায়িত্বে খুশি ব্যক্ত করা হয়েছে। সেইসঙ্গে আশা প্রকাশ করে বলা হয়েছে, দেশের উচ্চশিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর শৈক্ষিক মান বৃদ্ধি, স্বীকৃতির পরামিতি ও কৌশলগত উদ্যোগে উল্লেখযোগ্য অবদান রাখবেন উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক পন্থ।

Way2barak, 10 October : In a significant recognition for higher education in Northeast India, Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, the Vice-Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar, has been nominated to the Executive Committee of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for a three-year term.

The nomination was formally communicated by the University Grants Commission (UGC) through a letter dated 10 October 2025. The NAAC, an autonomous Inter-University Centre established by the UGC in 1994, is the premier body responsible for assessing and accrediting Higher Education Institutions across India. It functions through its General Council, headed by the UGC Chairman, and an Executive Committee.

The letter from the UGC stated that Prof. Pant was nominated under the category of “Three Vice-Chancellors of Universities,” a move that brings a crucial regional perspective to the national policymaking table. This appointment is seen as a testament to his leadership and the growing importance of institutions from India’s northeastern region in shaping the future of higher education.

Prof. Pant’s role on the executive committee will involve contributing to key decisions on academic quality, accreditation parameters, and strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing standards in universities nationwide.
