Assam University pays tribute to Jubeen Garg

Way2barak, September 20 : The students of the department of Social Work organized its freshers’ celebration ‘Swagat Sutra’ as per the pre-scheduled plan. In view of the sudden demise of renowned singer Late Jubeen Garg, the program was conducted in a curtailed and formal manner.
The event began with paying tribute by all the faculty members, research scholars and students from the department to the departed soul of Zubeen Garg, remembering his invaluable contribution to the cultural and musical heritage of Assam and India.

A moment of silence was observed to honor his memory. The condolence message was given by Prof. Tarun Bikash Sukai, Head of Dept. of Social Work and Dr. Joyashri Dey, Assistant Professor of the same dept.
As the program was already planned in advance, it was carried out in a shortened format, but the overall celebration was kept minimal and subdued to match the solemnity of the moment. The program was organized in this limited way with utmost sensitivity and respect.
The Department, along with all participants, stands firmly with the people of the state in this hour of grief and deeply shares the sorrow of this irreparable loss.
