জাতীয় সামাজিক কৰ্ম সপ্তাহে বিশেষ বক্তৃতানুষ্ঠান আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২১ আগস্ট : জাতীয় সামাজিক কৰ্ম সপ্তাহ পালনের অঙ্গ হিসেবে গতকাল বিশেষ বক্তৃতানুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করল আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সমাজকৰ্ম বিভাগ৷ এতে মুখ্য বক্তা হিসেবে ছিলেন বিশিষ্ট ক্যান্সার বিশেষজ্ঞ পদ্মশ্ৰী ডাঃ রবি কান্নান৷ অনুষ্ঠানে বিশিষ্ট অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন কোচির অমৃতা হাসপাতালের সাৰ্জিক্যাল অনকোলজিস্ট ডাঃ বিজয় কুমার৷

শুরুতে ডাঃ রবি কান্নানের হাতে শুভেচ্ছা-স্মারক তুলে দেন অনুষ্ঠানের দুই সমন্বয়কারী ড. অদিতি নাথ ও ড. জয়শ্ৰী দে৷ উত্তরীয় পরিয়ে বরণ করেন বিভাগীয় অধ্যাপিকা এম তিনেশ্বরী দেবী৷ সেইসঙ্গে সাৰ্জিক্যাল অনকোলজিস্ট ডাঃ বিজয় কুমারকে সম্মাননা প্ৰদান করেন ড. রত্না হুইরেম৷ স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন বিভাগীয় প্ৰধান অধ্যাপক তরুণ বিকাশ সুকাই৷ তিনি জাতীয় সামাজিক কৰ্ম সপ্তাহ পালনের তাৎপৰ্য সংক্ষেপে তুলে ধরেন৷ সেইসঙ্গে পদ্মশ্ৰী ডাঃ কান্নানের নিষ্ঠা ও অবদানের কথা কৃতজ্ঞতার সঙ্গে উল্লেখ করেন৷

বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে পদ্মশ্ৰী ডাঃ কান্নান কাছাড় ক্যান্সার হাসপাতাল ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সমাজকৰ্ম বিভাগের মধ্যে দৃঢ় বন্ধনের কথা উল্লেখ করেন৷ গুরুতর স্বাস্থ্য সমস্যায় পড়ে একজন রোগী ও তার পরিবারকে যেভাবে আৰ্থিক চ্যালেঞ্জের মুখোমুখি হতে হয় তার বাস্তব চিত্ৰ তুলে ধরেন৷ তিনি স্বাস্থ্যসেবা ও সমাজ ব্যবস্থায় পেশাদার সমাজকৰ্মীদের গুরুত্বপূৰ্ণ ভূমিকার কথাও তুলে ধরেন৷ তিনি বলেন, রোগীর মানসিক-সামাজিক সমস্যা মোকাবেলায় সমাজকৰ্মীরা চিকিৎসক ও রোগীর মধ্যে সেতুবন্ধনের কাজ করেন৷

এদিনের আলোচনায় স্বাস্থ্যসেবা ও সামাজিক সহায়তার মধ্যে অপরিহাৰ্য সংযোগ তুলে ধরা হয়৷ আলোচনায় পারিবারিক অসুস্থতার কারণে শিশুদের স্কুলছুট হওয়া, রক্তদানের মাধ্যমে সামাজিক সহায়তা ইত্যাদি গুরুত্বপূৰ্ণ বিষয় অন্তৰ্ভুক্ত ছিল৷ প্ৰসঙ্গত, গত ১৫ আগস্ট থেকে এই সামাজিক কৰ্ম সপ্তাহ পালন শুরু হয়৷ এ উপলক্ষে সমাজকৰ্ম বিভাগের উদ্যোগে শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতাল ও পাৰ্শ্ববৰ্তী বিভিন্ন গ্ৰামে নানা কৰ্মসূচি পালন করা হয়৷

বক্তৃতানুষ্ঠানের পর শিক্ষাৰ্থীরা ডাঃ কান্নানের সঙ্গে প্ৰশ্নোত্তর পৰ্বেও শামিল হন৷ এতে অংশ নিয়ে ড. রত্না হুইরেম প্ৰস্তাব দেন, ক্যান্সার রোগ থেকে সুস্থ হওয়া ব্যক্তিদের তথ্য লিপিবদ্ধ করলে তা অন্য ক্যান্সার আক্রান্তদের অনুপ্ৰাণিত করার কাজেও সহায়ক হবে৷ শেষে বক্তব্য রাখেন অধ্যাপক শুভব্ৰত দত্ত৷ তিনি শক্তিশালী সমাজ গঠনে সমাজকৰ্মীদের গুরুত্বপূৰ্ণ ভূমিকার কথা তুলে ধরেন৷

Way2barak, August 21 : As a part of the observance of National Social Work Week, the Dept. of Social Work of Assam University organised a special lecture session by the Padma Shri Dr. Ravi Kannan on 20 August. The event featured distinguished guests Dr. Ravi Kannan, a respected doctor and recipient of the Padmashri award and Dr. Bijay Kumar, a surgical oncologist from Amrita Hospital, Kochi, Kerala.

Coordinators Dr. Aditi Nath & Dr. Joyashri Dey felicitated to Dr. Kannan with Memento and Prof. M. Tinesowri Devi felicitated him with Uttorio. Dr. Bijay Kumar, a surgical oncologist from Amrita Hospital, Kochi was facilitated by Dr. Ratna Huirem.

Welcome address delivered by Prof. Tarun Bikash Sukai, Head, Dept of Social Work. He highlighted the departmental activities and spoked about Dr. Kannan’s dedication & contributions to the society. Prof. Sukai also briefly explained the significance of observing the National Social Work Week program.

Dr. Kannan delivered a thought provoking lecture, where he shared about the strong bond between the Cachar Cancer Hospital and the Dept of Social Work. He shared a real-life story of a patient and his family facing serious health issues and financial challenges. He highlighted the crucial roles of professional social workers in health care and community settings. He told that addressing the psycho-social problems of the patients, social workers are serving as a bridge between the doctors and the patient.

This talk highlighted the essential connection between healthcare and social support. Discussions also covered wider topics such as children leaving school due to family illness and the importance of community support, like blood donation.

At the end, the students are actively engaged with Dr. Kannan in a question and answer session. Dr. Ratna Huirem suggested that documenting stories of cancer survivors could be very helpful for inspiring others. The program was formally concluded by Professor Dr. Subhabrata Dutta. He reinforced the important role social workers play in providing comprehensive care and building strong communities.
