Assam State Commission for Women issues notice to Badruddin Ajmal for his comments on Hindu community
way2barak, Dec.10: Controversy seems to accompany AIUDF supremo Badaruddin Ajmal. The Assam State Commission for Women has issued a notice to him for his remarks on the Hindu community and women in general. Serving the notice, the women’s commission observed that Ajmal’s comments were ‘not only derogatory but were sexist and misogynistic.’
On 2 December, AIUDF supremo said that Hindu men like to have illicit relationships with many women till the age of 40, after which they look to marry and settle down finding no other options. He stated that Hindu women, like Muslim women, should marry by the age of 18.
Though Ajmal apologised for his comment. However, it sparked a series of protests across the state and multiple FIRs were lodged against him.
